SRO'S CHICAGO HS Edition!
In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless
husband, Amos, to take the rap...until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted
and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess," Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight
and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune, and
acquittal. This sharp-edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse.
The High School Edition is the only version of CHICAGO available to license. Not much is cut. However, MANY of the keys are a bit different (supposedly to make it easier to sing)
WE WOULD ADVISE YOU STOP LISTENING TO THE BROADWAY TRACKS OR THE MOVIE.
The keys you will audition with will be different. In case you want to hear the HS EDITION keys, we have a blue button above and below with links to the vocal tracks from the HS Edition.
WE ALSO SUGGEST NOT IMITATING THE VOCALISTS' STYLES FROM THE HS EDITION. We plan to keep the dialects/accents closer to the Broadway version (Inland North American 1920s-just check out some scenes from CHICAGO on YouTube. :) Basically we want it a little grittier-could go different ways-1920's gangster, NJ, Brooklyn, Chicago etc.)
